Singapore's listings on this wiki are mostly hostess KTVs, along with Japanese hostess clubs and the large dance clubs. A hostess KTV sells a private room or table, drinks and the company of hostesses for conversation and karaoke, and its bill has several parts worth understanding before you go.
Where to go. The site's KTV listings cluster in a handful of areas, often inside older shopping centres and office blocks: Selegie Road, the Jalan Besar and Lavender area, Geylang, the older malls along Orchard Road, and the Chinatown side of the business district around Cecil Street. The Japanese hostess clubs are around Cuppage Plaza near Somerset station. The nightclubs are central: Zouk at Clarke Quay, Marquee at Marina Bay Sands, and RASA and Tuff Club in the Raffles Place and Robinson Road office district. How a night runs. Many KTVs open in the late afternoon or early evening with a cheaper happy-hour period. Zouk and Marquee open at 10 p.m., Zouk on Wednesdays, Fridays and Saturdays and Marquee on Fridays and Saturdays, and Marquee asks ticket holders to arrive before 11.30 p.m. Zouk and Marquee admit guests from 18 and RASA from 21. Bring photo ID and covered shoes, and leave shorts and sandals behind for Marquee. Drinking in public places is banned from 10.30 p.m. to 7 a.m., and shops may not sell takeaway alcohol in those hours.
What it costs. The KTV listings describe a minimum spend set by room size and counted in beer towers or bottles, drink prices that differ between happy hour and later, and a tip for each hostess, usually fixed per session. A 10% service charge and 9% GST then go on top, with GST charged on the service charge too, so S$100 of drinks becomes S$119.90. A menu that says its prices are "subject to GST and service charge" is quoting them before both. As of October 2026, RASA is free before 10 p.m. and charges S$27 to S$30 after that, while Zouk and Marquee publish no standard door price.
Avoiding overcharges. Before you order, ask what the room's minimum spend is, how long a hostess session lasts and what each tip costs, and ask for the running total before you extend. Check the bill for bottles, mixers or snacks you did not order, and ask whether paying by card adds a fee. Walk away from anyone on the street offering a cheaper room.
Getting home. Last MRT trains leave central stations between about 11.45 p.m. and 12.30 a.m. After that, take a taxi or book a ride in an app such as Grab, Gojek, TADA, Ryde or CDG Zig. Metered taxis add 50% to the fare from midnight to 5.59 a.m. Before midnight, a 25% evening peak surcharge applies, plus S$3 for trips that start in the city area.
